In 1979 the Polydor record label released a compilation album, Twenty of Another Kind, Part 2.

In addition to some of the better know acts on Polydor at the time, The Jam, The Cure, Sham 69 and Gary Numan’s Tubeway Army, it contained tracks from some of the most interesting acts of Ireland’s punk/new wave. You can hear the sweet 1960s melodic influences in Protex and the Xdreamysts, while Patrik Fitzgerald’s songs always contained pathos, social commentary and were distinctive. This set of six songs shows how fragmented the ‘punk’ or new wave sound was, even as early as 1979. It also shows that the Irish acts didn’t lack great songs and spirit even if the production sometimes wasn’t of the highest quality.
