Thursday Tunes: Niall Byrne, Redneck Manifesto

It is a real honour to have Niall Byrne from Redneck Manifesto choosing this weeks Thursday tunes. Born from the punk and diy scene the rednecks have carved out their own musical path in a way that they have chosen to follow and stick to. Their gigs are infrequent as this band was never set up to pay their bills and as they moved through life other things took centre stage. They are playing Vicar Street next week, with a new album on the way and a trip to Japan in the new year

Forest of Evil (Dawn) by Demdike Stare Creepy.

What Makes You by Joe Lally One of my favourite bass players and obviously he was in Fugazi who were a band that had a massive impact on me, an impact that went way beyond music.

Nobody Wants A Lonely Heart by Arthur Russell I’m not actually a huge fan of a lot of Arthur Russell’s stuff but at the moment I’m a bit obsessed by the album that this song is on.

The Dream by Thee Oh Sees I love this song and when I saw them live a few years back they were the 1st band in what seemed like an age that blew me away.

Lucy by Cian Nugent Love how Cian plays guitar – especially his solo acoustic guitar stuff.
