I have a playlist on my phone to get me through a plane journey. I was lucky to have the front seat of the plane and watched people coming and going to the toilet for three hours. It gives you an interesting take on the journey. I try not to spend too much time wondering how much time each person spent in the toilet and the distraction always came down to the song in my ears.

The rule for my mix? Two songs from every band and it being a band I knew little about in advance.

The Brokedowns nearly had me dancing in the aisle of the fasten seatbelt sign wasn’t shining strongly in the corridor it wouldn’t have taken me much to get up and boogy.

Other bands that gave that vibe were Pretty Rude with a little indie rock, Coming Down with some modern emo, modern life is war with some proper screamo.

I had Dead Pioneers and Soul Glo on repeat. 2 of the most important bands on the go at the moment.

The drowns had some sing along garage punk and then back to the emo with Love Letter as they screamed passionately into my ears.

A glorious journey made all the shorter with some magic tracks.
