I have a vivid memory of interviewing New Model Army drummer Rob Heaton (RIP) as he explained the thinking behind producing their second album. He spoke of Motown and the sound of the drums on the Motown records. It is a line that has stuck with me for decades.

That booming consecutive bass and snare drum pounding away providing a rhythm. This rhythm provides the backbone to Palmyra Delran‘s new single. Delran has been fronting garage punk bands for many moons and is also threading the boards in current cool supergroup The Coolies. For the Dipper gang it is like mixing Living Next Door to Alice with a football chant through a garage pop chainsaw. Very catchy and fresh right through.
