I can’t explain how much punk rock means to me. The words on the page don’t do it justice but it became a way of living. Not thinking what would the punks do just what feels like the right thing to do. This weekend epitomises it. It’s a huge family and like any family gathering there are some you like more than others.
Rebellion 2024 Day 3
As I prepare for the onslaught of steps and sounds on day 3 I contemplate my 48 hours so far in Blackpool. The punks have taken over, touts are the only ones selling tickets and this punk rock party is in fine form. There’s a haunting spectre of a match from the EDL later as we hope that attendees of the festival will be out in protest of the hate and division that the edl espouse.
Rebellion 2024 Day 2
Here we go again. Day 2. The sun is still shining and the floors of the venue are getting sticky. Last night I kept feeling splashes on the parts of my legs my shorts weren’t covering as people dropped their not so empty plastic beer glasses to the floor. The floor absorbed most of it but by the time I was leaving Bar Stool Preachers my feet were beginning to stick to the floor.

Is there a more synonymous saying associated with punk rock than 1-2-3-4. And with that on our first day August 1 the festival kicks off

So it’s the night before the day when the maddest collection of musicians, punks, vagabonds and those on the outside of whatever it is they feel they aren’t part of, come together for their annual celebration in the tatty seaside town that is Blackpool.
