My first visit to Manchester Punk festival was to be last year. Hard to believe that after the initial lockdown was announced in march that we held out hope for it to happen just 1 month later. Well now the world is starting to dream again and with that is the announcement that the festival will be back next year. most exciting news of it for me is that Jeff Rosenstock is playing as we will all be rushing, hoping we can get in to see jeff.
MELT BANANA, will be heading all the way to Manchester from Tokyo to show us what they are all about.
The incredible LAURA STEVENSON will be headlining the acoustic stage. Laura’s new album is out now on Don Giovanni records.
Also on the bill Fat Wreck bands DIRECT HIT! are going to join the party, a great band that are making a deserved name for themselves.
Back for their 2nd MPF, RANDOM HAND have agreed to put down the gin and babies (not together) to remind people why they are considered one of the best ska bands England has produced. Fingers crossed the afro-punk brilliance of PROPER will be there. after last years cancellation and it will be 3rd time lucky we hope for German crust metal powerhouses ANCST after some unfortunate luck in previous attempts.
It wouldn’t be an MPF announcement without some skate punk so please also welcome Dutch pot heads DRUNKTANK in to the mix. The organisers pride themselves on bringing you the best new bands the UK has to offer so Blackpool/London punks THE CHISEL have been added to the bill, two areas synonymous with UK punk music.
Two TNS favourites, Norwich ska punk rude boys FAINTEST IDEA and the only band to have played MPF twice in one year, NOSEBLEED, who will get up close and personal don’t you worry.
DUCKING PUNCHES are coming back just because they are impossible to say no to.
