Dunning Kruger Effect

I tell my kids all the time that life is a journey. A road trip that takes you down avenues you may not have been expecting but you generally find the way out. Eventually. This is all the more pertinent during lockdown, partial lifting, social distancing and isolation.
All generations are on a learning curve and we sure have learned a lot over the past 18 months. We know now about virus mutations, vaccines and what 2 metres really is. My latest piece of knowledge is about the Dunning Kruger effect. “ incompetent individuals…will dramatically overestimate their ability and performance relative to objective criteria”; that they “will be less able…to recognize”
Sounds like so many people we know, maybe even bits of ourselves? Well here is now a mystery 2 piece band out of Dublin with that name. They have put some songs together, a mix of some synth, some funk, some samples and some tunes to give a very pleasant experience.
This record shows how people can put their ideas together to create, their creation can get into the hands of others without having to go through some major record distributor. These people put some songs together, they are a reflection on Ireland with poignant samples about moving statues and modern life. They recorded the songs and put it out themselves. The internet then takes over. Much like so many working from home or on video calls with their friends over the past year.
There is no contact information no real names of people, no record label. Just this concept. The band members aren’t making themselves out to be special. I can do that without them losing the run of themselves and falling to that Dunning Kruger effect.
