6 refreshing Summer Sounds here. It doesn’t need to be summer to listen to these breezy pop tunes. Right from the opening of ‘Birdbrain’ where we are taken to the times to remember when we were young this is riff ladened pop. At times it veeers into Pavement territtory with that couldn’t care less feeling sliced through the vocals.
They jangle their way through songs like ‘Crawling Now’ but every now and then have a tendency to throw in an irreverent guitar solo. I breathe a sigh of releif when those solos are over so we can concentrate on the fresh pop tunes. ‘Some Silly Reason’ almost touches on the Beach Boys at times but again it’s the Pavement influence that comes out most for me.
