Another Brooklyn

This is a coming of age novel about 4 girls growing up in 1970s bushwick, Brooklyn. You can imagine the summers as they sit on the steps of houses, people playing on the streets with an innocence while the underbelly of the world is just below the surface. Kids oblivious to the pain and suffering of others, just out having fun in a beautiful mess.
We get a brief glimpse into the life of four families through the innocence of childhood, whilst their events aren’t do innocent. Compelling and beautifully written. Captured the time perfectly.
