Experimental metal group Imperial Triumphant are playing in the grand Social in what is a welcome week for those who wish to play music in costume. Doyle from Misfits is on tonight – Doyle is well known for his white faced style complete with dog collar and punk ghost look. Imperial Triumphant are another level altogether. Layer after layer of sound from these three masked marauders with a level of sonic heaviness rarely seen on these shores. Lightning Bolt are bringing their noise to Whelans on Thursday or you might prefer the sweet sounds of Emma Ruth Rundle in the beautiful surroundings of St Anns church. It’s a bug weekend for the punks, coming back down to earth after Rebellion in Blackpool a fortnight ago. Slf and Ricky Warwick are in the Academy the same night UK Subs, Outcasts and Lee Harveys are in the Grand Social. Both organisers recognise this is a clash and have worked out stage times to ensure people can see both if they wish. I remember the UK Subs first tried to play in Ireland just after the awful fire in the Stardust killed 48 people. It was memorial day when they were in Dublin and all venues were shut down. They have since been back but for the families of the victimes of the Stardust their wait for Justice continues. Paranoid Visions play Vicar Street for the first time in their long career when playing with Flogging Molly on Saturday night. Empty your wallets this week folks
