The last time the levellers were in town was for a screening of their biopic, A curious life. They are back now for a sold out show in the Button Factory. As a band they came from the anarcho squatting scene and they slip under the radar but end up getting crowds of people still interested in them. Squarehead have been knocking about for nearly 15 years at this stage. The Dublin post rockers are playing in the Workmans on the same night as Levellers with the sweet sounds of Banrion and Wexford 3 piece noise nik tunesters Unstuck. Alternatively you could have the madcap folk of Mary Wallopers or head to see Stefan Murphy upstairs in Whelans.
Don’t take too much of a breath as the following day see Ruts DC bringing their amazing show to the Workman’s, Helmet bringing their noise to the Academy, Ocean Colour Scene bringing their Britpop to the Olympia and David Kitt bringing his good songs to Whelans. Dublin, you are spoiled for choice. It’s even harder the following night. I have tickets for three gigs Nightingales in the Bello Bar, Paranoid Visions and RadioCrimen bringing their sing along punk rock to the grand Social, with the Nilz and We Come In Pieces and the glorious Chewie finally launching their new lp, Inarticulate in the Button Factory.
