Steve has reinvigorated himself in recent years. This shy introverted punk rocker is no longer just the former vocalist of Crass. He has taken his politics and outlook on life and has brought a punk vaudeville theatre feel to it through Slice of Life.
All songs are sung with intense passion. Live Slice of Life are an experience to behold. Steve steps into the songs and becomes his own character on stage. In between the banter is light but once the vocals kick in over the bass, guitar and piano it becomes full on.
The sound here is as good as any recording I’ve heard Steve play on. The feeling bleeds through the speakers. It’s not something that would win a song contest and I’m sure Steve is fine with that. It’s him stripped bare and raw.
