Big one for those lucky enough to get tickets is Billy Bragg in the National Concert hall. Sold out months ago this is a great chance to see and hear the agitator in the luxurious surroundings of the Concert Hall. Elvis Costello went down a treat in the same venue a couple of months ago. Expect this to be special
That one is a Foggy Notions show but singular artists have been gathering some interesting gigs – none more so than crywank who are in the Button Factroy on Thursday.
Friday sees a clash of gigs in Fibbers downstairs and upstairs. Downstairs you can pay in to see The Coathanger Solution, Scundered, MenofPause and Sluggers3 while upstairs see Def Nettle, Arcadian Shadows, Dumb Posh Hippies and Von Loop. Friday for me will be Tom Holliston + Simon Wells in Anseo. Excitement is building up in Hope Towers for this. Simon was in Snuff and Tom was in Nomeansno– what an incredible pedigree. Close your eyes and it might be 1990 all over again. Umack have really pulled a special one for this.
Saturday see Sleaford Mods in the Stadium, the band came under big criticism for removing a Palestinian Flag on stage which led to an abrupt end to their gig so I know where I won’t be that night. Cockney rejects are bringing their Joi and Oi to Lost Lane while Bob Mould is bringing his masterpieces to Whelans.
The following night the Undertones and Buzzcocks are in the Academy.
