We have some week ahead – any other time and the thoughts of Low and Tindersticks in the Capital during the same work would bring music lovers out of any corner they are covered. It’s hardcore week for me. First up is Shellac from North America. If they need an introduction you have a treat in store. They have been making noise for 30 years and have been travelling over here since their early days. They have 2 gigs in the Button Factory his week. Don’t say you haven’t been warned. On Friday we have the punky psychedelia of the Lovely Eggs. They picked our Thursday tunes when they were due over in 2020 but lockdown beat them. Thankfully their time has come and it’s this Friday in the Workman’s club.

I’m bending the rules for this gig guide a bit for Saturday as the Drogheda Arts Festival sees Paramount Styles coming to the Town 30 km north of Dublin. Former Girls Against Boys and Soulside people are bringing their moody noise rock to this island and it deserves huge accolades. I was lucky to see Soulside in London in 2019 and Girls vs Boys was one of the most moving gigs the Mean Fiddler ever head during its brief time in Dublin. This is music with feeling and if you’ve any feelings come along on Saturday.
